Here is a little something that I sketched out and thought might be very easy and inexpensive to make. It was, and depending what supplies you have around the house it may be completely free.
First I gathered 4 sturdy slim sticks from outside. Of course they were wet this time of year so I cleaned them up brushed them with a wire brush to get all of the extra dirt off and brought them into dry. I did this project at my parents house and dried my sticks in front of the wood stove but you might just have to clear a space, put some paper down and let them dry overnight naturally.
Once my 4 sticks were dry I got out some glue and glitter. I had a gold premade bottle of glitter glue and that worked great. A trip to the Dollar Tree can get you everything you need for about 3- 5 dollars. I also watered down some Elmer's glue, used a disposable paintbrush I could toss afterward and I had a bottle of red glitter. So I brushed the glue and water mix onto the sticks and used another cheapy paint brush to brush on the red glitter.
Once you get all of your sticks all glittery, let them dry. Now get out your glue gun and whatever small to medium Christmas tree bulbs you want to use. Glue the bulbs directly to the glittery sticks.
Now let dry over night and then be sure to spray your project with a clear varnish to seal it from moisture which will cause the bulbs to come unglued, the varnish also gives it a nice shiny finished look, and it allows you to hang your project outside if you wish without ruining it. Now the last step is to take some thin wire and lash your sticks together all facing the same way and hang. It should fairly lightweight, so you can use small nails and a little bit of wire if need be.
I hung mine on a log house porch.
So that's it, quick and easy, and so simple. It's a good project for kids that want to make something shiny and Christmassy but you want to keep it clean and simple.
